MACH-WHAAA?
If you know me, you know I love a good restomod. This car, however, is the opposite, a retro-mod. It’s a 2012 Mustang done up to look like a 1969 Mach 1. It’s called “The Boogieman”, and it was built by Duncan Brothers Customs in Clarkson, MI fort the 2021 SEMA Show. It’s currently owned by Mike & Kim Halslip. I spotted this build on the floor of the 2023 Detroit Autorama and was really impressed by how well put together it was.
A lot of times, trying to shoehorn an older body on an updated chassis can drive the proportions all out of whack, but the Duncan Brothers took great care fabricate where necessary and still use as many 1969 parts as possible: quarter pocket scoops, hood scoop, grille, tail panel, headlight buckets, side markers and bumpers. Two grilles were used because they had to lengthen them to make it work.
It was a really amazing build and I think a terrific way to have an old school look with modern performance and comfort.
