DAISY
Shelly Damico's 1969 Saab Sonnet IV originally belonged to her father Richie Simpson. He was a Saab mechanic and acquired the car in 2002 from a client who was the original owner.
Shelly has owned it since 2016. It’s powered by a V4 backed by a manual transmission. Since Shelly and her husband have had it the transmission and clutch have been rebuilt and the body has received a fresh coat of yellow paint.
When I asked where the name “Daisy" came from, Shelly said they were in line to take hot laps at the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix. While waiting for their turn, she hopped out and picked some wild daisies growing along the track. And the name stuck.
