BOUGHT NOT BUILT
Our #rideoftheweek entry this week is a 1955 Ford Thunderbird owned by Ron Price of Chippewa, PA. While the 1955 to 1957 “baby” birds are considered blue-chip collectibles, I rarely see them at shows in my area. So, it attracted my attention right away. It did the same for Ron when he bought it out of Connecticut 10 years ago.
“I wanted something different,” Ron tells me at the Tom Ceglarsky Memorial Cruise in Baden, PA last August, “You see too many Vettes and Mustangs.”
When I asked if he had anything to do with the restoration, he said that he bought it this way. “The previous owner told me that it was a basket case.” But from what you can see here, this car, finished in Thunderbird Blue, looks a like very well-done build.
It’s powered by the 292 ci V8 backed by the 2-speed automatic transmission with the standard floor mounted shifter. You will get a workout driving this baby bird as there’s no power steering or brakes.
If you’d like your ride to be featured as a #carshowlife #rideoftheweek, send us your story and at least 6 photos to info@carshowlife.com.
