Our car show season in much of the Northeast and Midwest is over, but here in the Southern Nevada Desert, it still very much is car show season and SEMA is one of the best car shows you can’t come to, no matter how much you want to pay for a ticket. One thing that I didn’t fully understand until I tried to apply for admission is that this is a trade show. You need to be in the automotive trade in some capacity to be able to attend because the people that are here, are here to do business. It’s taken me two years, but I finally have Car Show Life in a position to be considered part of the automotive sector. And with my experience in broadcast media, I’ve combined those two worlds into one to bring SEMA 2021 to the average car loving Joe & Joanne.
When I arrived in Las Vegas for my first SEMA experience and ventured to the Convention Center to pickup my media badge, I was instantly overwhelmed by the enormity of the facility and the plethora of vehicles and displays outside, in various stages of completion before the event. Overcome by sensory overload, I wondered how I was going to see everything I wanted to see and digest all that information down to share with you.
After about 24 hours, I’ve reviewed all the major showcases and events and have boiled things down to a few key exhibits that I need to cover and share with my Car Show Life community. I’ll do so thru a series of blogs, social media posts/stories and a few videos which may come later, weeks after the event concludes.
Suffice it to say, if you are in the automotive sector and are passionate about cars, you need to attend this trade-only event at least once during your career. Plus, it’s the first week of November and I’m outside in shirt sleeves and sunshine looking at cars! This should fill me with enough of the ‘feels’ to carry me thru a long, dreary Northcentral PA winter.
SEMA 2021 officially kicks off tomorrow, November 2nd and runs thru Friday November 5th. As a media attendee, I’ll get a sneak peak at some of the vehicles that will be on display this evening and share that with you here.
