Ride Of The Week 05/30/2022: Posie's 1949 Olds 76

Post War Resto Mod

Restomods are my favorite segment of the collector car hobby. Classic lines with more modern, more reliable mechanicals hiding underneath. Normally restomods are from the muscle car era of the last 60s and early 70s, mid-year Corvettes or shoebox Chevys of the 1950s. So when I happened upon this 1949 Olds with "383 Stroker" badges on the rockers and the unusual "Bellflower" exhaust, I had to know more.

The owner would only be identified as "Posie", a childhood nickname he received because his parents owned a flower shop, says the interior is original, save for the custom rear seat tonneau cover.

Also original are the 76,000 miles that the car has traveled. Other than that the car is equipped with a

Dakota Digital Gauge Cluster, a 383 Rocket Stroker backed by a Turbo 350 transmission and an Oldsmobile rear end.

Posie says he was drawn to the car because of the fastback roofline and has had it for 5 years. It's been the flag shop of Posie's Cool Cars, which he's operated since 1964.
